Our story is simple. Peter De Cabooter our General Manager came to The Hideout for his family vacations since The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch was started in 1992.
He noticed the change in people and effect that this experience had on the guests and visitors. At the time he worked for a global US company, managing their EMEA Operations travelling & working also frequently to North America integrating Corporate Teams to add value to Global and International across border key accounts.

Multi-Cultural Corporate Teams to serve Key Accounts (SAMA)

Peter started to bring his own multi-cultural corporate teams to The Hideout. Together with the HR manager and incorporating many of the leadership principles of the company he worked for at the time, Meyers-Briggs programs, etc. they designed most of the corporate packages and activities. Peter was for many years an active member of SAMA (The Global Strategic Account Manager Association) and served on the board of SAMA. SAMA is a not for profit organization teaching Best Practice in Corporate and International Key Account Management in a world of consolidation.
Challenged with bringing Multi-Cultural Corporate team together and focus on Across Border Key Account Management, instead of their own territorial regions and countries, he started to bring small groups to The Hideout.

A different Corporate Team Building Environment

The Environment of The Hideout offers an entirely different dynamic to discuss, meet, connect, argue and get together compared to the traditional Corporate Hotels, Beach Resorts, Golf Courses and “easy to fly in” destinations. All these Corporate Destinations are too close to the Corporate World & Cosmopolitan Centers part of the daily life and work environment of most corporate individuals and their customers.

It is always a challenge for the participants to “Leave Corporate Agenda / thinking” behind, which is needed to start thinking “outside of the box’ and “nail out” internal tensions and challenges part of any organization. The ability to “disconnect” is most relaxing and opens your mind to see other things, in a different perspective. And to have a fun time, one needs to be in an environment in which nothing reminds you of the environment you are running away from to relax.

When moving with his family from Brussels, Belgium to Shell, Wyoming to manage The Hideout in 2006, we started to lay the foundations for Corporate Retreats at The Hideout. However first of all our organization and team at The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch had to become an example of what we preach and walk the talk in terms of values, ethics, quality and having open-minded people on board with people skills. We had to hire and train a consistent team of quality individuals together, with good communication skills who understand what we where trying to do.

It probably does not come to you as a surprise that our team mirrors most of the corporate teams or organizations. If not it would be difficult for our staff to put themselves in your shoes.

The Hideout Team consists of a diversity of individuals. Some have a Masters Degree, some are superb individuals and professionals who had little formal schooling, other of our people come from different cultures and countries.

Part of team has always worked in North America and some are locals. Some have worked in a variety of countries. Some are married, some are not married, some have children and some have no children. We have year-around staff and yearly returning seasonal staff.

We have people who speak one language and individuals who manage 4 languages. We strive to have a well-balanced group of Myers-Briggs personalities to make sure we don’t get blindsided and challenge each other constantly.

The best example and testimonial for our corporate retreats and team building concepts are that have practice what we preach. We have integrated the above individuals from all walks of life to a group of quality and passionate individuals ready to work with you and your teams.
