The Many Aspects of Leadership
In fostering the art of leadership -- whether it is leadership and management roles, team building management, team development, leadership theory and practice, a rebirth of ethical leadership, or the leadership conference itself -– it still boils down to who do you know well and who do you trust.
Leadership would be a cinch if your organization consisted of only the right people. That is, if everyone with you was brought in based on their character, conduct, and competence. Yes, one can train for competence, not so much for conduct, and one's character has already been greatly determined. Thus, we must lead those we have been assigned. True leaders work to assemble the best team they can and they continually work at bringing out the best in their people.

Some Thoughts on Leadership …
Leadership by loudness in not true leadership; leadership by listening is, when followed by thoughtful decisions and execution of plans. That is, utilizing the Servant Leadership Style, where you make use of and act more as a catalyst for the energy and resources of the ones you lead, bringing out the best in them. This is closely aligned with Impact Without the Need to Leverage Authority; which calls for key players who understand how to get things done without “forcing the issue.”
Neither the Servant Leadership Style nor Impact Without the Need to Leverage Authority style means employee or boss is operating at the other’s beck and call. Rather, these effective leadership styles allow collaborative efforts between direct reports, supervisors, middle and upper management.
