Fly-Fishing & Fishing
The Big Horn Basin offers a variety of fishing opportunities in rivers, creeks and lakes. Within one hour driving distance we have access to 74 miles along the Big Horn Canyon or Yellowtail Dam which offers fishing opportunities for trout, bass, walleye, pike, etc.
However nothing is more relaxing than walking down to our stocked ponds or Shell Creek to catch a couple big ones.
With the many unspoiled streams in this little known and populated region the possibilities are endless. One thing is sure….there will not be another 100 people fishing the same water.
You can either go out on your own or with some of our local guides, who will be happy to show you their hotspots. We can also organize Fly-Fishing initiation if you are a novice. At The Hideout Lodge & Guest Ranch we have 2 casting ponds with no trees around them.
Hiking & Biking
All of our horseback riding trails can be utilized for hiking and some for mountain biking. We have access to basic, medium and advanced hiking and mountain biking experts that know this region.
When it comes to mountain biking there are beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Needless to say this area is a challenging mountain bike region and we have access to a team of local expert mountain bikers who know these trails and mountains by heart.
When it comes to hiking we can offer a variety of trails. There are endless hiking opportunities at elevations of 4200 feet in the valley all the way to 13,000 feet in the Cloud Peak Wilderness area.
Don’t worry about running in to a big crowd. The average population per square mile in the US is 78 people, in Wyoming 6:1 and Big Horn County where we are located 2:3 people.
Snowmobiling & Winter Activities
From December through April The Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming are covered with plenty of snow to assure winter fun. There are close to 450 miles groomed snowmobile trails and plenty of space for snowmobiling off-the-beaten-track. Those who love snowshoeing and cross-country skiing will have plenty to do. And being located in a county with an average population per mile of 2,6 people (US average 74) you will not run in to traffic jams.
Cook-Outs
Who does not love cook-outs? They are bonding experiences. We can organize lunches, dinner cook-outs. And don’t think cook-outs can’t be fancy. Our chefs and staff will meet you desires and customize according to your needs. How about a real authentic chuck wagon cook-out or breakfast? We can arrange to meet you in the mountains during your activities.
Culinary Classes / Challenge
We have two talented and fun culinary schooled chefs. They organize cooking classes yearly and know how to make it fun and competitive. A cooking challenge can be simple or sophisticated. Included in our standard package is 3-course meal challenge. Our chefs can stand on the side and be the official “tasters” or they can each take a number of teams under the wings and coach during a competitive Culinary challenge.
